I've struggled to straighten my hair.
Last week the hairdresser gave me smooth layers that left me looking like a mature footballer's wife. I felt great. My son told me I looked like "Rachel in Friends" - I said, "Don't you mean Rachel's mother?" and he made a face that told me that was closer to the truth - and I didn't mind. But when I tried to do the same style myself - my hair looked flat and punished by all those restraining chemicals.
So, I've given up - today it is back to curls. Immediately, there is a reaction - husband, son, mechanic - they all comment favourably on the curly me.
What do other 40-50-something women do about their hair? We're not ready for the shampoo and set, but the cookie-cutter hair fashions that flatter younger faces can be a disaster.

A gold medal!
After 25 years, which of us deserves the medal?
D. for being supportive and providing through my career changes - the ones that haven't yet paid off?
Me for being supportive and raising the boys while he worked so diligently?
Probably both of us - there were sacrifices on all sides.
But what do you do to mark 25 years?
Any suggestions?

25 years this week
A young man and woman met in a bar in the Middle East.
After 3 weeks, they went on holiday.
After 3 months, they married.
Many people said the union would never last - but it did! This week is our 25th wedding anniversary.
Who would have believed it?
Not me - when I was young I had a commitment phobia - if I went out with a guy who talked longterm, I would panic and retreat - and now, here I am - almost 25 years married.
Somehow, I think the speed helped - no time to feel suffocated - life was nice in Abu Dhabi with sun, sea, hard work and great play!
The last 25 years have passed quickly - with a few explosive moments!
But how to mark the time?
Parties on Saturday and Sunday- but what else?
